Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil producer, is shifting its focus to natural gas, aiming to build the energy pillar needed to power clusters of artificial intelligence data centers, emerging industry hubs and rapidly growing cities. The company will start production at the Jafurah gas field in the coming weeks. It is one of the world's largest shale gas basins and a cornerstone of the country's foray into this fuel. Amin Nasser, the chief executive of Saudi Aramco, said the growth potential of the gas field is "huge", noting that it holds about 230 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 75 billion barrels of crude oil, and is rich in ethane - an important raw material for producing plastics.
