Willich Germany becomes a Brazilian distribution partner for bio-based EVA with the same processing properties as fossil EVA
2024-01-25
FKuR Kunststoff Germany Willich plans to distribute polyolefin supplier Braskem's bio-based vinyl acetate (EVA) in the EU, UK, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Israel and India. The German company said the partnership deepens a partnership that has been in place since 2011. FKuR is also a distribution partner of the Brazilian Biobased Polyethylene Group.
Braskem's "I am Green" brand Bio-EVA, like the corresponding PE, is made from sugarcane based ethanol. Depending on the type, the biobased content is said to be between 45% and 80%.
According to FKuR, applications include shoes, toys, sports equipment, tatami MATS and general foam. As a plastic, bioEVA should have the same processing properties as fossil EVA, so customers can convert on existing systems. It is also expected to be as recyclable as fossil EVA.
